Why It’s So Important to Have an Effective Social Media Strategy

In the past 10 years, social media has exploded!

In fact, 97% of marketers now use social media today (that’s almost 100%!) Just think! Through a few platforms, you can reach millions of people. Millions! And this could all happen in seconds.

This might seem overwhelming, and it’s no easy job, which is why it’s so important to invest in a good Social Media Manager who can come up with a tailored social media strategy for your business.

Social media has the power to take your business to the next level if you know how to use it. A good social media strategy will...

1. Help You Grow Brand Awareness

One of the main benefits of social media is that it can get your brand voice out there. There has never been such an easy way to get your message across to customers.

Although posting on a platform is easy, it still takes immense planning and optimization so it resonates with your audience. With so much noise on social media, you need to have a well-thought-out strategy to grow your brand awareness and optimize your posts for your target audience. Use a third party automation tool to cut down on your scheduling efforts. This will create time for more posts, engagement, and outreach.

Social media can get your brand in front of potential customers in just seconds. While a customer is scrolling through their phone on Instagram, they might come across one of your brand’s posts and pop over to your profile page, even though that was never their intention.

Social media marketing has the power to influence customers and get them thinking about your brand even when that’s not their intention. Now that’s powerful!

2. Start Conversations

Social Media is a great place for starting conversations with customers or potential customers. Your posts give for your customers to interact with your brand on a personal level, while also offering feedback.

You can even go a step further and use hashtags or initiatives to get people talking about your brand. Remember, the more people that talk about your brand, the more people that will be made aware of your company. More awareness = more customers.

3. Build Deeper Connections with Your Audience Through Social Listening

Social listening simply means paying attention to what customers are saying about a brand or industry online. It’s great for community management as customers share feedback, pain points, or personal experiences and it can help you connect with your customers on a more personal level.

It’s so important that you speak your customers' language. If you cater to Gen Z customers, you should have a friendly, fun, conversational tone (full of emojis) or you won’t catch their attention.

Good social listening will make your customers feel valued, which could lead to repeat business.

4. Provide Responsive Customer Service

Most customers expect immediate customer support through social media if they are experiencing an issue with a product or service.

This gives you a chance to provide exceptional customer service and go above and beyond. Customers want to engage with brands that value them, so this allows you to show your customers how much they mean to you through personal interactions with your social team.

Plus, active social media monitoring could help prevent a big PR nightmare. A brand can respond to a customer immediately if they are unhappy or unsatisfied, hopefully preventing any larger issues from occurring.

5. Increase Traffic to Your Website

A good social strategy can help send customers to your website. You can link directly to your site or blog on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, and you can include the link in bio or swipe up (if you have 10K followers) on Instagram.

This is a perfect way to increase referral traffic to your website and diversify your inbound traffic, aside from just search engines.

6. Drive More Conversions Through a Call To Action

You can encourage your customers to convert through a Call to Action (CTA) on your social media.

A successful CTA often has some sort of impending deadline. For example, an effective CTA would be: Save 50% on the whole site through TONIGHT at midnight only.

Not only is there a call to action, but there’s a time limit that encourages the customer to convert immediately instead of waiting.

7. Harness the Power of Social Media Ads

If you’ve never clicked on a social media ad and bought something you had no plan on buying, then congrats my friend, you are in the minority!

The more and more people I speak with, the more I find how much social media influences them. Most of them have clicked on a social media ad selling some product (that specifically targets them) and have ended up buying it, even though they never had any intention to do so.

Again, social media has the power to get people to constantly think about and talk about your brand -- there’s nothing else out there with so much power.

8. Help A Brand Go Viral

It’s every company’s dream to have their posts go viral and this is possible through a well-thought-out social media strategy.

When a brand's message goes viral, it's seen by millions and millions of customers who may have never even known the company existed in the first place. This level of brand awareness is unparalleled and is impossible to achieve so quickly through any other marketing strategy.

Social media is a powerful (mostly free) tool that can help elevate your business in seconds! If you’re not using it, the real question is why?
